About the PPPA project
Pilot Project on Poverty Alleviation in the Republic of Tajikistan (PPPA)
The National Social Investment Fund of Tajikistan (NSIFT) as the first executive agency realized the Pilot Project on Poverty Alleviation in the Republic of Tajikistan from 1997 to 2002. Within the framework of this project it implemented the Programme “Micro projects”, which included 154 micro projects. Implemented projects involved approximately 600 thousand people (that is approximately 10% of the country’s population). In addition to this, during Project implementation, NSIFT simultaneously coordinated 4 (four) programs of international organizations financed by NSIFT, including:
• NSIFT- Save the Children Federation (SCF) (USA). Programme “Microfinance”.
• NSIFT- SCF (USA). Programme “Rehabilitation of dwelling houses in Khatlon region”
• NSIFT- SCF (Great Britain). Programme "Support to the households headed by women".
• NSIFT-Aga-Khan-Fund. Programme "Reform of agriculture: building of irrigation canals and development of new lands".
