Programme “Construction of schools and relevant infrastructure in Rasht group of districts” is being implemented based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed from 16 January 2013 between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT), National Social Investment Fund of Tajikistan (NSIFT) and German Development Bank (KFW), as well as signed Special agreement from 25 February 2013 between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and National Social Investment Fund of Tajikistan. Project budget is mainly composed of “Counterpart funds” from two credit lines of BMZ projects, which are allocated by German Development Bank within the financial cooperation to the First Microfinance Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The project covers 3 districts of Republican subordination, including:
1. Nurabad district;
2. Rasht district;
3. Tajikabad district.
The main objective of the project – is to improve conditions for studying in primary and secondary schools of covered districts through construction of educational buildings and their provision with equipment and infrastructure, using appropriate quality, as well as training of Parents and Teachers Associations in project schools.
Within the Project realization, implementation of the following tasks is envisaged:
a. Construction of 12 new primary and secondary schools with 8-10 classrooms, on average, taking into account the measures on increasing energy efficiency of the buildings in primary and secondary schools;
b. Equipping all new classrooms with durable quality furniture;
c. Provision of schools, which are participating in the project, with independent heating system;
d. Construction of new toilets, which satisfy requirements, in project schools;
e. Construction of small workrooms to provide the possibility of pre-professional training in project schools, if necessary;
f. Training of Parents and Teachers Associations (PTA) and community, as well as conducting other training activities;
g. Partial financing of expenses, incurred by the Project Executor (NSIFT) due to fulfillment of objectives of the given project.
